This is my 16th trip to Germany. The Torfhaus Resort rates as one of the best experiences that I have ever had. The location is perfect for hiking, biking, sightseeing or just relaxing. It is in the forest, but close to Altenau, Braunlage and other larger communities. The cottages are in excellent shape with the most modern appliances. Staff is very professional and always on duty. The town of Stolberg is an amazing old town with beautifully maintained Fachwerk buildings. The Gasthaus Kupfer is one of them. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable with remodeled bathrooms. The staff was kind and helpful. I was in the area on business and just happened to find the Gasthaus because of proximity to my meeting. Would like to return for a tour of the area.

A beautiful renovated castle in the Hartz mountains. I chose the hotel for it's location. The staff were very nice, the room was small however was clean, the restaurant dinner was excellent, a large buffet breakfast.
