Llangoed Hall
10/10 Excellent
"We had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay in this elegant and historic building. The grounds are well maintained and the highlight is the walled garden with a large variety of fruit trees and a maze that puzzled us for a while! Our dinner was prepared with care and attention and the food was very tasty. A 5* stay in a 5* hotel.."
The Kings Head Hotel
8/10 Good
"It was unfortunate that there was a singer on in the bar below our ro until late. However apart from that it was good that a fan was provided considering the very hot weather. The room was adequate and the complimentary water was appreciated We had an excellent breakfast in the restaurant which doubles as an Indian restaurant in the evening We didn't eat in the restaurant but the menu looked really good. There are lovely outside booths where you can enjoy a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine or beer and watch the world go by. A great location for visiting the beautiful town of Abergavenny and free parking outside after 5. 00pm until 10.00am next morning"

Metropole Hotel and Spa

"Located centrally in the town with excellent parking. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Was nice to sit outside under the beautiful wisteria and enjoy a drink in the evening sun. Brasserie food was excellent. Breakfast was really nice also. A great base for exploring."

The Castle of Brecon Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"A beautiful hotel in a lovely location. We stayed here for 4 nights in a Superior double room. The room had recently been refurbished. The bathroom was huge and very clean. The room itself was very nice with views across to the Beacons at the rear. Having the DAB radio on Radio3 was a nice touch when we arrived. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and professional. We paid extra for breakfast, and we dined in 2 nights too. Food was very good. Parking was ok but a little limited for the number of rooms. There is on-street parking close by and the Promenade car park is free 6pm-8am. Note: if you happen to have seen The Hotel Inspector episode from over 18 years ago with Alex Polizzi that features this hotel, please don’t be put off. Time has worked wonders. It is unrecognisable from then. I believe it’s now owned by The Coaching Inn Group. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again."
