Of all the places we stayed during our 10 days in Scotland the Sherbrooke was the absolute best. (And we stayed in a few rather nice places, including the Scotsman in Edinburgh) Every member of the staff was beyond polite, friendly and accommodating. They could not do enough to help us feel both welcome and comfortable. In addition, the evening was gorgeous and our photos of the grounds and sunset were exquisite. What a way to end a trip at such a marvelous establishment.
Property seemed very nice, though the picture advertised is a”wee” bit different. Hotel looks lovely inside but had a weird dam smell in the hallways. Like many hotels in Europe - NO AC which is rough, but they did bring up a small fan. Surrounding area is cute with little shops, bars and cafes and seemed cleaner - less graffiti and more “Kept up” than central Glasgow. A very comfortable and enjoyable short stay at The Village Hotel - and very handy for the Ovo Hydro where we saw 'Two Doors Down'. Bus stops were nearby - both Hop On/Off type and ordinary ones - so was easy to get around Glasgow. When we needed a taxi booking, the reception staff were happy to do so - and the taxis arrived promptly. The best thing about this hotel is really the proximity to the airport. It is a lovely hotel- rooms are great, not much noise and decent size. But it is amazing that you can just walk across the street to the airport without worrying about any transportation or delays.
I had an early morning flight and stayed the night before. I was able to get breakfast quickly at the hotel before casually walking over to catch my flight. Awesome!
From when I arrived in Glasgow, easily found the hotel using my GPS. The parking was tricky at first as it seemed like a two way street but with cars parking on both sides, it quickly made it into a one lane road. The hotel mentioned that there were other locations to park nearby. I neglected to ask for the other parking options so I parked on the side of the road.
