Downtown Mackinac Island
Step back in time on Mackinac Island's downtown streets, where Victorian charm meets horse-drawn carriages. Fort Mackinac watches over cobblestone lanes filled with fudge shops releasing sweet aromas. Bike past historic landmarks like Biddle House or catch a show at the Haunted Theatre. Lake Huron views provide the perfect backdrop for this car-free paradise. The island's dining scene offers everything from fresh whitefish to homemade ice cream. Accommodations range from historic bed & breakfasts to the iconic Grand Hotel. Getting around is simple—just rent a bike, hop on a horse-drawn carriage, or explore the compact downtown on foot.

Hubbard's Annex
Step back in time on Hubbard's Annex, where Victorian summer cottages flaunt ornate gingerbread trim and pastel facades. This exclusive residential district on Mackinac Island offers a peaceful escape from tourist crowds. Lake Huron peeks through mature trees while the clip-clop of distant horse hooves completes the time-travel experience. Lodging options include upscale bed & breakfasts in converted historic homes and vacation rentals with authentic period charm. Getting around is delightfully car-free—explore by foot or bicycle on well-maintained paths that connect to downtown's restaurants and shops just a 15-minute walk away.

Learn more about Mackinac Island
Forget cars - bicycles and horse-drawn carriages rule this Victorian time capsule floating in Lake Huron. Fort Mackinac offers cannon demonstrations and sweeping water views that explain why both British and American forces fought to control this strategic outpost. The Grand Hotel's sprawling porch (yes, from 'Somewhere in Time') provides the perfect spot to sip tea while watching ferries crisscross the straits. Sample fudge from competing shops along Main Street - watching the theatrical marble-slab cooling process is half the fun. Arch Rock frames postcard views from 150 feet above the shoreline. For the full experience, circle the island's perimeter road, where limestone bluffs meet crystal waters and the only traffic jam might be caused by a horse taking an unauthorized snack break.

Mackinaw Beach & Bay Inn & Suites
"The views from the room are spectacular. Room are ok for cleanliness and the beds are very hard. Over all really like this hotel and would stay again."
Hamilton Inn Select Beachfront Mackinaw City
"Great location! Very nice staff and we loved the balcony."
Cabins of Mackinaw
"Our cabin was wonderful. For the most part the room was in good repair, but overall the property needs a little TLC as a whole. Our housekeeper, Trev, made sure the room was clean, and the front desk was helpful in providing recommendations for restaurants and getting to the ferry. Parking was a bit interesting in front of the cabins. Would stay here again, especially with kids (they enjoyed the floorplan)."
Cedar Hill Lodge
"I loved this place. Very inviting and friendly atmosphere"
Island House Hotel
"We loved our room in the dormer/top floor. It had a fantastic view from the dining table. We enjoyed drinks on the front porch with our friends and had a spectacular dining experience last night. The only thing that we were disappointed with was that we thought they would have had better linens & towels for the price of the room."
Harbour View Inn
"The room was very clean and larger than many we have stayed in. The staff was courteous and helpful. The breakfast was very good and above what we have experienced in other hotels. The hotel is close to town and other amenities we wanted to see. Overall excellent experience and would highly recommend."
Lake View Hotel
"Wow, this hotel was built in 1858 & has continued to serve people ever since. It's really, really nice. We paid a big price for this one: $516.43 & it did deliver."
Bridge Vista Beach - Hotel & Convention Center
"We had a great corner king suite with balcony right over the beach. Beautiful views. Room was well equipped. Nice and quiet. Only unfortunate thing was the smokers in balcony under ours and the weed smokers on the beach at night stunk it up so bad we couldn’t use the outdoor space."
Sunset Condominiums
"I really enjoyed the remote location away from town. The check in and out process was easy and staff was helpful in arranging getting bags to and from the docks. I also enjoyed walking over to the neighboring property- The Inn at Stonecliffe. They have beautiful outdoor spaces to relax and soak in the peaceful views."
