12th Street Historic District
12th Street Historic District captures Golden's frontier spirit through its well-preserved Victorian architecture. Wander past ornate wooden trim, bay windows, and wraparound porches while discovering the Astor House Museum and Golden History Center. The tree-canopied streets create an intimate atmosphere where Colorado's mining heritage comes alive through interpretive displays and vintage storefronts. Antique shops and local artisan boutiques fill restored Victorian buildings, offering authentic treasures to browse during daytime hours. Historic bed & breakfasts in converted homes provide charming accommodations with period furnishings. While public transit is limited, the neighborhood's compact design makes it perfect for exploring on foot or bike.

Downtown Golden
Downtown Golden feels like a real-life Western movie set with its preserved 19th-century brick buildings and mountain backdrop. The Colorado School of Mines campus and Astor House Museum showcase the area's gold rush heritage, while Clear Creek offers refreshing waterside paths perfect for summer tubing or peaceful strolls. Washington Avenue's pedestrian-friendly design invites you to wander between boutiques and brewpubs without traffic worries. Casual eateries serve up Colorado craft beers and comfort food, with most offering creek-side dining. Though public transit is limited, the compact downtown is perfectly walkable and connects to regional hiking trails. Charming bed & breakfasts in converted Victorian buildings make ideal bases for exploring this authentic slice of the Old West.

North Central Evergreen
North Central Evergreen offers a peaceful mountain escape with towering evergreens and quiet residential streets. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore nearby Genesee Park, hike Bergen Peak trails, or enjoy a round at Evergreen Golf Course. The laid-back atmosphere provides a genuine taste of Colorado mountain living without the tourist crowds. A personal vehicle is essential in this area where vacation rentals and cabins offer affordable, spacious lodging with full kitchens and mountain views. While dining options are limited locally, the stargazing is spectacular and you're just a short drive from Golden's amenities or the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Denver West
Denver West balances suburban comfort with easy access to mountain adventures. The neighborhood centers around Colorado Mills Mall, where shopping and dining options abound for travelers. Nearby Red Rocks Amphitheatre hosts unforgettable concerts amid striking sandstone formations, while hiking trails beckon outdoor enthusiasts just minutes away. Chain hotels offer convenient lodging with mountain views and reasonable rates. Getting around requires a car, but the payoff is worth it—you'll enjoy uncrowded access to both city attractions and nature without downtown Denver's congestion. Most restaurants and shops maintain standard mall hours.

Hyatt Place Denver South/Park Meadows
"Great property, helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms"
Hilton Denver City Center
"Great location, parking was $65 per day, $50 to check in 1 hour early."
Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center
"The whole experience was more than I expected!! From location, staff, parking and the room itself!!!"
Hilton Garden Inn Denver Union Station, CO
"The room was nice and clean. Checking in was a little wonky because there was nowhere to park to check in. Thankfully, the valet staff allowed us to park against the fence to check in and take our luggage to the room. Also, parking was $55 for overnight valet, and that was the only overnight option. Daytime parking only was $30. Instead of Denver, it felt like New York City and not in a good way, I realize this is a downtown hotel, but the experience could have been better."
DoubleTree by Hilton Denver Tech Center
"Will definitely stay here again during my next Denver trip."
Hotel Boulderado
"Our home internet went down Friday afternoon just before Labor Day weekend. Custumer Service said they could not get a Tech out to fix it until Tuesday due to the holiday. It has already been a stressful week and rather than spend a three-day weekend home with no internet I decided to book a room at a nearby hotel. The Boulderado had last minute availability so we threw some stuff in a bag and drove over. We had never stayed here before but were immediately impressed by how charming yet grand it is. Our room in the new wing was very nice and clean with a large bathroom and sliding door with a Juliette balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard with a fountain. There are lots of really great restaurants nearby but honestly the food and service at both the bar and Spruce restaurant in the hotel was the best! We had brunch and dinner at the Spruce. All of the front desk staff, servers, valets, and maids were so friendly, helpful, and made us feel so welcome. They even invited us back for Christmas! Several friends have said they go all out with really beautiful decorations and traditions. We can't wait to go back again!"
