We were pleasantly surprised to find a lovely family run hotel. The room was clean and sufficient. It appeared to be recently updated. The bathrooms had Kohler fixtures and a tub with jets. Service was excellent. It was close, just over 5 minutes, to Taliesin. They also gave us a discount to Taliesin. We didn’t try the pool, but it looked nice. It was a perfect place to stay.
We are returning customers, going back for at least a decade. Whenever we are not camping at Governors Dodge State Park, this is where we stay. Last year there were some very serious issues with our room. Broken this, broken that and yes, the building is old, probably needing a serious rehab but as we all know, that's expensive. This year's stay was an improvement overall. The breakfast received a bit of an upgrade. I saw new faces at the font desk and they were all exceptionally friendly and...
To be honest I expected a tiny, unkempt, bare neccessites room with no TV. I was totally AMAZED at how much they packed into that small room (14) HUGE king bed, nice TV w/ lots of channels, microwave, small fridge, ULTRA-CLEAN room, bathroom and stand-up shower. I got there late (9PM) and nobody was at the desk (of course) but when I pushed the button I got immediate service with a smile. No contintental breakfast but WHO CARES!! Will stay there again for sure.

Found this to be a very nice hotel. Would recommend to anyone going in that direction. Staff were all friendly & helpful. Continental breakfast was very good, in a large room, clean & enjoyable. Coffee available at all times.
The lady that owns this house is extremely nice cooks up a great breakfast and has really put a lot of effort to make a quiet beautiful house. Thank you Mary!!
Our stay at Deer Valley Lodge was one of the most comfortable stays we've had. We loved Cave of the Mounds so close by. The two 7 year olds we had absolutely loved the smaller scale water park. 3 slides, large pool, small pool, hot tub, life jackets, & lifeguards. The beds and bedding were perfect. The air conditioner was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was great! Very clean place and very friendly staff. We booked again for July 4th weekend to take in House on the Rock.
We stayed there after an American Payers Theater performance. Had a great time at the Speakeasy chatting with the bartender and other guests - ask for an absinth cocktail. Our room had a small outdoor patio area which was great. Sat down by the river for a bit also.
We just stayed for a night while in this area for a wrestling tournament. Very nice hotel staff, nice lounge and pool area for the price. Quiet too....
I was very impressed. I fly a jet out of the small airport at Sauk Prairie. Had a very early morning flight. I live 2 hour drive away. I was pleasantly surprised at the nice room. Everything seemed new. Quiet. Peaceful and slept well. Comfortable pillows and nice bathroom. Highly recommend this motel.
I made a mistake with the pet policy and Mike helped me out. I was moving my daughters from WI to CO and we were leaving at 3a. Mike had his staff make us a goodie basket for breakfast because we were leaving so early.

Unique and memorable place to stay. Owners are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Baraboo and the surrounding area. It's an old wooden house; the exterior is due for some attention and some doors stick, but otherwise it's comfortable and functional. Lovely interior construction and much original furniture. I hope to return.
