Downtown Columbus
Downtown Columbus pairs Victorian elegance with modern adventure along the Chattahoochee River. The 15-mile RiverWalk offers prime spots to watch kayakers tackle whitewater rapids. History buffs will love exploring the ornate Springer Opera House, while art lovers can catch performances at the gleaming RiverCenter. The preserved 19th-century architecture creates a charming backdrop for your explorations. Southern cuisine dominates local menus, from upscale restaurants to casual riverfront bistros serving Georgia peach cobbler. Most attractions sit within six blocks, making it perfect for walking tours. Boutique hotels in converted historic buildings offer period furnishings and authentic Southern hospitality.

Downtown Historic District
Columbus's Downtown Historic District mixes rich history with riverside charm. Wander past grand Victorian buildings like the 1871 Springer Opera House or follow the wooden boardwalk along the rushing Chattahoochee River. Former cotton warehouses now house craft breweries with exposed beams, while the Coca-Cola Space Science Center adds a modern touch to this historic area. The compact district is perfect for exploring on foot, with most attractions within a few blocks of each other. Southern cuisine restaurants and brewpubs serve up local specialties, while boutique hotels in converted warehouses and Victorian B&Bs offer character-filled accommodations for overnight stays.

MidTown
MidTown Columbus brings history to life through gorgeous Victorian homes and Colonial Revival mansions lining tree-shaded streets. Art lovers can explore regional collections and Civil War artifacts at the Columbus Museum, while literary buffs shouldn't miss the Smith-McCullers House. The area's quiet charm and walkable historic core make it perfect for travelers who appreciate architecture and Southern heritage. Local cafes and neighborhood bistros serve up delicious Southern comfort food at reasonable prices. Visitors can stay in charming bed & breakfasts housed in restored Victorian homes with personalized service. Wide sidewalks and minimal traffic create an ideal setting for peaceful evening strolls through this authentic residential neighborhood.

East Highlands
East Highlands offers a peaceful retreat from Columbus's bustle with tree-lined streets and mid-century homes that tell stories of suburban American history. Take leisurely walks under mature oak canopies and admire the well-maintained lawns that create a park-like atmosphere. This quiet neighborhood provides a genuine glimpse into everyday residential life away from tourist crowds. While the neighborhood itself has no restaurants or shops, you'll need to venture to nearby commercial areas for dining and shopping needs. Accommodation options include charming vacation rentals and occasional bed & breakfasts in historic homes. A car is essential for exploring Columbus attractions, though the neighborhood's sidewalks are perfect for evening strolls.

Weracoba-St. Elmo Historic District
Weracoba-St. Elmo Historic District welcomes you with tree-lined streets showcasing early 20th-century architectural gems. Spend your day strolling past Craftsman bungalows and Colonial Revival homes like you're walking through an outdoor design museum. Weracoba Park (aka Lakebottom Park) anchors the neighborhood with scenic trails, sports facilities, and a peaceful lake perfect for afternoon exploring. This quiet residential area offers authentic Columbus living with minimal tourist infrastructure. You'll need a car to reach downtown dining options and hotels since the district itself has limited commercial offerings. Wide, shady sidewalks make for excellent walking conditions while you soak up the tranquil atmosphere away from the typical tourist crowds.

"Staff welcomed us & took us to the elevator. We were politely greeted by all staff. Historical preservation meets modern amenities with style & beauty. Great breakfast. Dinner was amazing with just a walk across the bridge to their connected restaurant. Can’t wait for our next trip."

"Room was wonderful and comfortable. The front desk clerk was precious and she knew what she was doing. parking was safe even though it was full. Over slept for breakfast but what I saw before we checked out was clean and almost gone! Someone liked it!"
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Columbus at Northlake by IHG
"Our stay was very pleasant. The only downside was the breakfast. The yogurt seemed separated and the prepackaged muffins were molded ( probably manufacture issue but still should have been quality tested or reviewed) the pancake machine was also having issues. Probably needs looked over. Other than those minor issues. The stay was great."
