Very surprising room size. 2nd floor looks updated. Huge bathroom with excellent warm water and pressure. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Incredible little library on 2nd floor with tons of books, microwave, toaster oven and coffee pot.
Oh yeah and cool record player was very relaxing. We stayed here as part of a Mt. Marcy hiking trip and this place made the trip even more enjoyable.
What was unique about the property was the friendly staff. Always available and privately owned. They could not have been any more gracious and welcoming.
What we didn't like was that the walls between the rooms were very thin. You could hear everything from the room next door.
The owners and staff were delightful to interact and chat with-- The room was clean and comfortable, views were fabulous and keyless entry was convenient. Close to town and shops and restaurants.. Highly recommend!
Our trip was last minute. We arrived and got a very welcoming greeting. We were able to get a room upgrade and that made our R&R all that much better. We rarely get away, so that was a real treat. Very clean and quiet. Anything we needed was attended to. We decided to extend our stay an extra night and received the same courtesy and smiles from all staff for our whole stay. It was well worth it.
Amy was wonderful and we slept so well! Would have preferred a king but the queen was super comfortable. Rooms tastefully decorated and breakfast was lovely. Looking forward to returning
We stayed at the lodge for Ironman Lake Placid. It is close enough to easily get to and from the venue, but far away enough to enjoy the quiet surrounding area. Our stay was incredible. The breakfast was the best part. The blueberry muffins can’t be beat! The rooms were cozy and the lodge was peaceful. Loved hanging out at the river behind the lodge to relax. We will be back!
Nice inn located in a 200 year old house. Rooms with comfortable beds, no tv, but they do have WiFi.
Food is very good and the couple that owns and runs the inn is very friendly and accommodating.
Some quirks like squeaky floors and no locks on the doors just add to the charm. Nice fireplace and outdoor deck. Coffee is excellent too.
Very nice place to stay you have something going on in the area, or if you want a relaxing low key vacation in picturesque Vermont or nearby upstate NY.
The staff was welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable. The most memorable part of the stay was the great food in the Pub and the friendly bartender. We booked the room to ski at Whiteface Mountain. The hotel is just a five minute drive and skiing there was terrific. The Hingry Trout is a great value and I would definitely return.
