We are passing through Sao Sebastiao and stayed for two nights there. Right next to bus station. 16 minutes walk to ferry to cross over to ilhabela. 10 minutes walk to the promenade, with lot of bars and Resturants. Good breakfast and free coffee and tea and snacks all day. Staffs and the woner are very friendly and accommodating. Perfect stay for us.
Barra do Piuva was simply stunning. The views and amenities of the hotel were some of the best I've ever encountered in the world. The only downside was that it was rather empty when we stayed during the week so we were the only ones at breakfast and dinner both days. Also had to seek out people to get drinks and things while near the pool. Other than that, the stay was totally relaxing. The staff were very helpful even without us speaking Portuguese. Was definitely worth it!
They had air conditioning in high temperatures and humidity. This stay saved our vacation.

The only issue we had was the "queen" bed Expedia sold us turned into two twins shoved together at the hotel. It was uncomfortable for two people to sleep together.
The Hotel Mercedes is a great older hotel, almost like a castle built into the rocks. The hotel is older but is in a quiet section of the island. They have a nice pier and swimming pool on the ocean and have great views from both. The breakfast buffet is nice and you are within a 10 minute walk of several other beaches.
The best customer service , Li the manager and her team was Amazing and make me feel very welcome . The place is very cozy and for sure I will be back.

Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was adequate and clean. The restaurant on site called Mar e Terra is absolutely fantastic. The food was prepared immaculately and every meal I ordered was magnificent. The pool and pool bar are fantastic. The staff was excellent and I can't wait to go back.
