Wow!! What can I say? What a beautiful charming B&B. I have to admit, I was curious/concerned about such an old facility but given the recent renovation/remodel, job well done. Everything has been updated, (fixtures, windows, etc). The owner is extremely welcoming and accomodating. Not a day goes by, now that we're home, that we miss waking up at Le Clocher de la Duchesse. The breakfast was absolutely perfect and just what we needed to start our day. Can't rave enough about it. Very quiet and...

This is my third time staying at The Grand Monarque. The location is excellent, bathroom and amenities great, good bed and sheets, friendly staff and lovely restaurant in an atrium. The breakfast is excellent, and I had lunch at the one star restaurant in the hotel which I never realized was there. It was superb!
I think the decor in the halls should be updated. They give the wrong impression of the hotel. Other than that, I love it.
great stop on the way to Paris. The owner, Marie Pierre, was a doll. She gave us food recommendations for food and fun. Nice room - smallish, but adequate and comfortable. I would stop here again.
Modern, clean and convenient. The parking behind the property was convenient. We couldn’t get the ac to cool down, it felt like only the fan was blowing no matter how much you adjusted the temperature. But the big window opens up all the way and it was a cooled quickly. The breakfast also had several hot items which was nice.
Stayed one night to explore Chartres Cathedral and couldn't have been happier with my stay. The hotel was a short walk from the train station and easy to find. The front desk staff were very helpful, from arranging for dinner to helping with the very European elevator (!) to storing my luggage the next morning. The location of the hotel couldn't be more convenient to the Chartres Cathedral, the main attraction in town. And the view of the Cathedral from the hotel is magnificent! Make sure to ask...

The hotel was very nice and clean. Amenities were good and internet was fairly fast. Staff was friendly and helpful.
The only drawback is that if you are travelling by car you have no place to park overnight for two different days of the week as the parking is a public parking lot and it is used for a marketplace. Not really a great inconvenience but one should be aware of this before you get towed away. The hotel has plenty of warning signs but you have to read them!
