The Anchor Inn has a great location and the rooms and amenities do the job but are nothing special. My room space was tight, although the bed was comfortable and the shower performed adequately. The innkeepers, Jane and John were wonderful, friendly, and all one could want. The room and building were also immaculate, and nicely kept. A fan in the third floor room would have been nice, as it is not air conditioned. I suspect they rarely need air conditioning. But I did not think to ask until it was the middle of the night, and too warm. So not entirely their fault. The view was spectacular, and breakfast also first rate.

The Hornsbury Mill is a very charming hotel, set in beautiful grounds with a little lake. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the bed comfortable. I had the full English (vegan) breakfast and it was very tasty. The one complaint I had was that when the very charming old mill wheel is on and turning (which they switch off at 8pm), the noise made a constant thud in my room and bothered me a little. I assume it won’t be too much of a bother though to most people, who would be in bed well...
