Estoril
Estoril's glamorous coastal strip delivers a perfect mix of golden beaches, sophisticated nightlife, and old-world charm. The iconic Casino Estoril stands proudly along the waterfront, while Tamariz Beach offers pristine sands perfect for sunbathing or swimming. Palm-fringed avenues lead past Belle Époque villas to championship golf courses and tennis clubs where international tournaments unfold. Upscale seafood restaurants and beachfront cafés serve fresh Atlantic catches paired with local wines. Convenient train connections whisk you to Lisbon in just 40 minutes, while the scenic coastal promenade invites leisurely exploration on foot. Luxury hotels with spa facilities and ocean views complete the Portuguese Riviera experience.

Praia do Guincho
Praia do Guincho serves up powerful Atlantic waves for surfers and golden sand dunes for sunbathers looking to escape city life. This dramatic coastal spot sits within Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, where hiking trails wind through rugged cliffs and pine forests. Europe's westernmost point at Cabo da Roca lighthouse is just a short drive away. The beach offers world-class surfing conditions year-round. Beachfront restaurants dish out fresh seafood with ocean views, though most close early outside summer months. While luxury resorts and boutique hotels dominate the accommodation scene, a rental car is your best bet for exploring. The limited public bus service connects to Cascais center where you'll find more dining and shopping options.

Carcavelos
Golden sands and crashing waves invite surfers and sun-seekers to Carcavelos Beach, the crown jewel of this coastal neighborhood. The historic fortress of São Julião da Barra stands guard while beachgoers spread their towels along the expansive shoreline. Grab a board from one of the local surf schools or simply stroll the bustling promenade lined with cafés. Beachfront restaurants serve fresh grilled sardines with ocean views, while small local markets provide essentials. Trains run every 20 minutes from Carcavelos station, connecting to Lisbon in 30 minutes and Cascais in just 10. Vacation rentals and guesthouses offer accommodations ranging from budget apartments to luxury villas with sea views.

Parede
Parede offers a slice of authentic Portuguese coastal life with its golden beaches and laid-back charm. Stroll along the scenic waterfront promenade that hugs dramatic limestone cliffs, or dip your toes in the calm Atlantic waters at Parede Beach. Local life centers around morning beach walks and evening promenades, where the sounds of ocean waves create a peaceful soundtrack. Traditional tavernas and family-run seafood spots serve fresh catch at reasonable prices—try the grilled sardines or caldeirada stew. Excellent train connections put Lisbon just 30 minutes away and Cascais only 10 minutes down the track. Most visitors stay in vacation rentals with ocean views rather than hotels.

Quinta da Marinha
Cascais e Estoril's Quinta da Marinha neighborhood is known for its spas and restaurants, and entices visitors with attractions including Oitavos Dunes Golf Course and Quinta Da Marinha Golf Course.

Learn more about Cascais
Beyond golden beaches where Atlantic waves meet the Tagus River, this royal playground offers a perfect blend of leisure and history. The charming old town reveals cobblestone streets leading to unexpected treasures. Boca do Inferno's dramatic cliffs provide nature's theater where waves crash against rock formations. Waterfront restaurants serve fresh seafood caught that morning, best enjoyed with local wine as the sun sets. Cascais Marina buzzes with activity while the Paula Rego Historical House showcases the famed artist's work. For a perfect day, start at Ribeira Beach before exploring Cascais Citadel, then end at a seaside café watching fishing boats return. Casino Estoril offers entertainment with the distinction of inspiring Fleming's first James Bond novel.

Sheraton Cascais Resort - Hotel & Residences
"Nice resort with helpful attentive staff. Would watch being put in a room near the restaurant as can be a spot noisy early mornings but otherwise a lovely resort. Highly recommend the sushi restaurant Yakuza."
Palácio Estoril Hotel, Golf & Wellness
"Right from the start the hotel staff make you feel special. The hotel is very grand but feels welcoming. The pool area is lovely and there is nice bar for the evenings. Breakfast is very good with Plenty of choice for fresh fruit and yoghurt, continental, hot breakfast, sweet options as well as vegan and allergy friendly choices. The rooms are nicely appointed with Molton Brown toiletries and plenty of storage. We keep returning and the standards are consistently high. The location is ideal for exploring as there is a train station a 5 minute walk away to visit Lisbon and a promenade to the next town along - Cascais which is well worth a visit, alongside the many beaches. Buses will also get you to Sintra/guincho. The hotel will obviously book taxis if you prefer."
The Albatroz Hotel
"I will dream about this hotel and the two nights we stayed in this former palace. The restorations that maintain the original character and the culture are just stunning. I felt like I was walking through the 1870 duke's palace- but with all the thoughtfulness of today. The pool and pool deck - as you see in the photos- are incredible. The location is a short 2-3 minute walk to the shops, restaurants and beach. We can easily see why so many people are moving to Portugal. We will be back - to this hotel- and to Cascais. I didn't even tell you about the welcome drink, a beautiful port, in our room or the included breakfast on the terrace! All phenomenal."
