We bought very cheap flight tickets to Crete in February completely by change - never been to Crete before. Then we chose Venus Mare hotel after a lot of searching and comparing on booking, expedia, airbnb etc. In the end it was a great choice. The place is ideal for families - nice pool, quiet street (dead end), 200 m from the beach (not crowded and clean), everything in walking distance - bus stop to Heraklion and Hersonissos, the village on Analipsi, supermarket, car rentals, travel agencies...
From the genuinely friendly hotel staff, to the gorgeous pools, to the complementary breakfast each morning- we truly had a wonderful vacation! They even have yoga/Pilates each morning which was a great start to the day!
Also it is close to the Heraklion airport (15 min) which made travel easy.
Convenient location to museum; walking distance to all; very helpful staff, easy parking, very modern "high tech" building and we needed guidance for operating AC among other things; so ask your questions. We had 2 sinks and showers( !) an additional perk; I would recommend screens for windows to be able to open them. gym was a nice addition.
We only stayed for one night as we just needed a room near the ferry port, but it was an excellent stay. Easy check-in, parking was no hassle, nicely furnished kitchenette, and very comfortable and well appointed room. Would definitely stay again.
Hersonissos is very chill. My hotel was fabulous- did not see a need to go out to clubs, etc., except for excursions, as it was all inclusive. There was nightly entertainment, 5 pools, several restaurants, and my own private beach. Very kid/family friendly as well as singles.
This was one of the most amazing trips my sister and I have taken together. I give all the thanks to the owners and staff of the anesea city hotel. Not only was the property beautiful, clean, and perfectly located, the care this hotel provided to help us navigate our daily travels took the stress completely out of our open agenda. A very avant-garde boutique hotel. Location was perfect for walking to many areas to visit. Staff was exceptional! Room was clean, artfully decorated! Highly recommend
This is a great hotel. The location is perfect for this city. It’s close enough to the main shopping but far enough from the noise. Parking wasn’t great but the city is mostly walkable. The property itself is gorgeous. The breakfast is delicious and workers are friendly and nice.
Good access to the airport. Close to the bus to Heraklion. Staff were very helpful. The only wrinkle is that water in the rooms is non-potable so bring your own water.
This is a hotel where both management and staff understand the meaning of service. All are well trained friendly, efficient.. This was our second visit and if anything the service and environment of the hotel had improved on last year. The immediate local area is a little tacky and off putting but this does not impact on the hotel grounds and there is at least one good café within a short stroll of the hotel.
