"Booked this hotel through Expedia prior to my trip, when I landed in Colombo I received a text message from a French (+33) number saying that my booking at The Coconut would be cancelled, and that the prices I had booked were no longer valid! My only choices were to cancel the booking or pay the "new prices" which were 3x higher! I ended up saying I didn't want the booking and found other accommodations. "Great hotel in Arugam Bay but what makes it memorable is Subu and his staff. Every request is quickly dealt with and no matter how busy the are, Subu always has time to have a little chat. The hotel is finishing the renovations so our room was missing a few things but it didn't matter at all because you're just taken by the laid back atmosphere of the place. Subu arranged the surf lessons with Sawmy and that was a great experience too. I would definitely recommend the hotel"
