"The hotel is a bit of a rabbit warren with creaking floorboards, reflecting the age of the property, but the room was well-appointed with traditional furniture in the bedroom and bathroom. The location is great for visitors to the Opera House and the various events in Pavilion Gardens, and only a few minutes' walk from the railway station. The staff were friendly, and there was a good selection of food at breakfast. I would be happy to stay at the hotel again when visiting Buxton."

"Beautiful hotel, clean, pleasant staff and very spacious. Rooms very comfortable and modern and it is situated on the campus of Keele University. We arrived pretty late as had been at an event during the day and were up early the next morning. Would definitely stay here again as the hotel has lots to offer. Managed a great sleep and the breakfast was great also. Staff brilliant at breakfast as well with my son's milk allergy, explained and checked everything and even go us some dairy alternative milks from the kitchen. The bar area looked great and there was a small gym too, unfortunately due to timings we didnt get to sample either which was a shame. All in all, very good stay!!"

"Fantastic stay, room was very comfortable and as a coeliac I requested a gluten free breakfast not from the buffet, as never trust buffet tongs when there are gluten containing items about… Tiff was fantastic and incredibly knowledgable, putting me at ease and confident about the food I received. Only stayed in passing to break a long journey but if ever in the area again then its definitely on my list of places to stay again!"

"It had been a while since we stayed here, check-in was quick, smooth, and the receptionist gave clear instruction and advised we'd get a bottle of wine as VIP, so we booked a table in their restaurant and said we'll have the wine with our meal. We went to our Tower suite, unpacked and went to relax a little on the sofa to find a few stains on the seat cushion, so didn't make use of the sofa. The bed area itself was pretty clean as was the bathroom, it was just like they'd forgot about the living area. Dirty wine glasses, clearly had remnants of red wine left in them with rings on the surface when picked up. Tea tray wasn't fully stocked, all of these little things were not like the usual high standards we'd come to expect. We mentioned this to the staff on the way to dinner and they couldn't have been more helpful, they cleaned the sofa and stocked the tea tray and left 2 clean wine glasses on the table (although the dirty ones were still in the cupboard). The lady was very apologetic and did get things sorted, thank you. Service at dinner was very slow but this was due to there being only 2 servers covering the restaurant and bar area, both of which were probably just a little too busy for them. That said they did a great job and worked their socks off to make sure everyone was happy. The lack of staff and cleanliness tainted what is ordinarily a fantastic stay at a great hotel. Such a shame."
