"I found the room and facilities to be excellent, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient.
Unfortunately, my experience at breakfast did not meet the same standard. Upon arrival, I advised both the front desk and the waitress that I had a limited timeframe of 45 minutes, as I had a driver scheduled within the hour. I was assured that ordering à la carte would be suitable.
While the bread was served promptly, there was then a significant delay with the remainder of the meal. After waiting approximately 20 minutes, I advised staff that I was happy for everything to be brought out at once. A further delay followed, and it was only after raising the matter with the manager that the meal arrived around 5 minutes later.
This left me having to rush through breakfast, while my driver was kept waiting. I was informed that the delay was due to a high volume of room service orders, which is understandable. However, this should have been communicated upfront so I could have opted for the buffet instead and managed my time accordingly.
Given that breakfast service is a standard offering, I would expect better coordination and communication—particularly outside of peak periods. Based on this experience, I would be concerned about service levels during busier times."
"The location and historic charm are amazing! Having breakfast or dinner whilst right beside the ocean is a rare opportunity in the middle of a Capital city. The rooms are a little dated and hotel could do with a birthday. "
"The Den is located in an excellent area, making commuting very convenient. The hotel has a distinct European influence in its design, yet the rooms are noticeably more spacious and offer more amenities than many hotels in Europe. The shower water pressure is outstanding, and the hot water supply is consistently excellent—both of which added greatly to the comfort of the stay.
One area for improvement is in the hotel’s operational systems. Upon checkout, I was presented with a bill showing outstanding room charges, despite having fully prepaid for my booking through Expedia. In addition, each time I left the hotel, security would ask whether I had signed out, which became repetitive and somewhat frustrating. Strengthening these processes would significantly enhance the overall guest experience."
"The staff at this hotel are exceptional; I've never encountered such helpful service during my travels through over 30 countries. They go above and beyond to assist. When I booked a car and the driver was delayed, the staff quickly ordered another one through their phone and guided the driver exactly where to go. Despite being a little late for our intercity train, their support was outstanding—they even texted me to confirm I boarded the train. I didn’t miss it. That’s how caring they are. They are truly some of the best staff in the world.😍😍"
