Beautiful clean white sand for miles and crystal clear turquoise water. Parties & bars on the beach, some free concerts in the summer time. You can hike up into the hill here, there are some old ruins up there, you can see peeking out from the trees in this photo.

Apparently since the 70's, Calella, was a booming tourist destination for Western Europeans and the British. It has been on a massive decline over the past decade. What's left behind though are some fun Dutch and English/Irish pubs, a small welcoming expat community, and one of the most incredible beaches you will ever lay your eyes on.

If you happen to find yourself here, you must stop in at Beach Boys Club, tell the owners, Brian & Cathy, that Amber sent you. Then hit up Brian for his secret stash of American imported Budweiser (Did you know the bottled stuff is always produced in country? Brian believes the secrets in the water, so he gets the cans from the US. Brian is British, which makes this little story even better.)

Also, be prepared to eat a lot of rotisserie chicken.

10/10 Excellent

"Super clean room with all of the necessary amenities. Location is terrific if you want to walk Mataró or take the train to Barcelona or Girona. We were there in the winter so can't speak to the crowds of summer but plenty was open and there are lots of options for food nearby. Just be aware that there is free parking for only 30 min. inside the marina gates but then you can go onto the nearby street and park for free. The spa, although a little pricey, is an exceptional treat. "

"El personal fue increíblemente amable, profesional y simpático. La habitación siempre estaba limpia. Tuve la mejor experiencia en Badalona, España. Me encantó que hablaran español, que es mi idioma principal. Me impresionó mucho la cantidad de idiomas que hablaban. The staff was incredibly nice and professional and friendly. The room was always cleaned. I had the best experience in Badalona, Spain. I loved that they spoke Spanish which is my main language that I speak. I was very impressed by how many languages they spoke. "

"Self catering apartment. Apartment was in the annex building which is at the back of the main hotel. Difficult finding in the dark as annex has a different name to main hotel! Apartment clean, had everything we needed. Kettle, toaster, hob and utensils for basic meals but ate out most nights. Pool freezing but was end of October. Ok once you’re in!! Very enjoyable stay"
