Deniz’s place is great to stay in if you are very social, want to meet locals in Kars and/or love dogs. Good breakfast. The street is in the middle of downtown, it has restaurants and shops, busses, taxis, cafes...a mall.

Ahıska Palas is one of the few newly renovated and furnished hotels in Kars with the best location. Not only most of the places to visit is literally a few steps away but also the restaurants and dairy shops which are bound to be in your list to visit. Kars hotels can be old. This isn't. Very clean, new apartments. There is no smell of cigarette smoke, which is very rare in affordable housing. There is heating. We'll definitely stop by again when we pass through.

Thus place is another example of hotel star rating of big money big corporation hotels. I think this place does not have 5 stars but way better than a lot of 5 star hotels I lodge. Check in and out was swift and quick, staff was very courteous and friendly. Everything was very nice. The place is right at the center of the city, you can walk everywhere. Van Life Hotel was very nice hotel and I enjoyed my time there. It is clean, quite, in a nice neighborhood close to the city center. The only shortcoming was the air-conditioning which sometimes worked and some other times did not. However, the time I was there it was not so hot and being in upper floors helped with air-conditioning.
