A cool place to utilize as a base camp for your outdoor adventures in the San Juan. A comfortable relaxed environment catering to the hikers, backpackers and travelers. I stayed in both a private room which as well appointed and comfortable and a shared bunk room on my last night of the trip. The shared bunk room was very comfortable and the shared bathroom was well stocked with towels and toiletries. I really liked the community feeling of the lobby. Met a ton of thru hikers and others who were in the area to enjoy nature.

This place seems really old and has had a number of lives but was really cool and after putting down a rebellion with my traveler we found the Avon to be most enjoyable. Definitely will be back.

My first visit to Silverton and I'm so glad I chose to stay at The Avon! Loved the charm of this place, very fitting to the full experience of a mountain town at high elevation. The whole establishment was kept very clean, bathrooms are clean and stuffed with clean towels and toiletries, the kitchen/bar/living room area is very roomy. I stayed at one of the bunk rooms and I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable the bed was, with clean and soft bedding. Great job to Daniel, who runs this place, for preserving the mountains town charm.

This is a very unique hotel, a bit more like an air b&b. It is still being remodeled, so do not be fooled by the outside. It was a very comfortable stay, with amazing views of Silverton and the surrounding mountains. Will definitely stay here again.

Loved staying at your place!! It was a really fun experience!! The beds were comfortable, water pressure amazing for such an old place! Dan was always available by phone to answer any questions. You have accesss to the kitchen if you don’t want to eat out…You don’t want to miss the character and history of this hotel!

I loved the room we stayed in, there was historical information about the hotel posted in the shower. The views were fantastic. The decorations in the room were so cool to learn about and the bed was so LARGE AND COMFY!!!! One of my best nights of rest in a long time. Daniel was very kind and helpful!!

Check -in was not clear. Instructions on how to turn on the lights and ceiling fan in our room were not provided. After a hard search only one coffee cub was found drying in the kitchen. Coffee was weak and no creamer was available. It felt like a comfortable stay was not a priority.

Room and hotel were clean. They provided toiletries. Check in and out was simple and communication during check in was great. We arrived close to midnight and check in stopped at midnight, but front desk texted instructions on how to get our key to the room. Property has shared bathrooms but they were not crowded as we arrived late and left early. Would recommend and would stay again.

The website implies that there is food and such available. The bar has at least ten taps but, I dont think they've poured a beer in some time. You check-in over the phone and never see a soul in the place who works there. I had to hoard a little coffee mug to be sure to have one for the next morning. No paper cups were available for their FREE Folgers coffee. The rustic nature of the place looks so cool on the website, that it's almost false advertising compared to how it's run.
