I think this was a fluke, but it should not have happened. The bedside lamps has been removed presumably by hotel maintenance staff, and the wires were left dangling causing a shock hazard. In the bathroom, one of the sliding shower doors has been removed and was missing, which caused the floor to get completely wet. The room heater was not in operation (at the end of December in Berlin, at near-freezing temperatures), and finally, the circuit breaker to the room was tripped 3 or 4 times by our phone charges plugged into the wall. This left us in complete darkness, and as there are no room phones to call the front desk it meant we had to send someone downstairs every time. The guy at the desk was very attentive and helpful, but aside from reseting the breaker to get the light back on, and giving us extra towels to soak the floor, there was little else. I expected to be moved to a room that was in working order, as this one clearly needed a lot of work. However, we were told there was nothing else available. We had an early transatlantic flight so resigned and went with it, and for our trouble got a free cappuccino the following morning. Probably won't stay at the brand again, although I recognize it is a good value for a spartan accommodation.
