The Royal Standard has modern newly refurbished rooms over the pub. These are surprisingly quiet and comfortable. We had a friendly welcome and slept very well. Good bathroom and comfortable bed and a really tasty breakfast to follow. We would definitely stay here again, particularly given the very convenient car park at the back.

So pleased we booked an overnight stay here. Every member of staff we met were friendly and helpful. Small room but it had everything that you would need including a safe, aircon (so welcome with the high temperatures), an iron, hairdryer and tea and coffee. The bathroom was great too. Good shower and there were fluffy towels and toiletries. There was an excellent choice at breakfast- a wide selection of cooked breakfasts. We had eggs royale and scrambled eggs, tomatoes and smoked salmon. All beautifully cooked and delicious. (You can enter the Royal Standard from the large public car park at the rear.)

8/10 Muy bueno

Nice room with all modern facilities. Faced out the high street but there is virtually no traffic after 9pm or so, so not a problem. Excellent a/c in the room which was much appreciated because of the hot weather during our stay. Separate entry to the rooms so did not have to go thru bar. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment, only remark is that it only opens from 8am for breakfast which won’t suit anyone looking to get away early Recommended
