The view is the only thing good about this place. I hear it was purchased by a foreign company recently, but they are awful. The people working here are miserable and not pleasant at all. The part that made me upset was that I called before booking a non-refundable “cottage” to make sure it had a fireplace. I was told that one room didn’t, but the larger room did so I booked that one online and of course had to pay in full. When we got there, their idea of a fireplace was an electric heater that barely worked and had color light. STRIKE ONE. There was also a sign on the office counter that said No WiFi. The young guy behind the counter just said “it’s out,” and I asked him why was I not told that when I called?!?! Well, apparently this wasn’t the truth because you can see the network, but the passwords don’t work. Also, guests from weeks ago said it was also “out” in their reviews. All of this SHOULD have been disclosed. I came to the beach to literally get away, do some work (computer), and enjoy a cozy fire while watching the winter sea. Of course they just shrugged their shoulders with a look of “what do you expect us to do?” How about DON’T LIE OR MISREPRESENT THINGS! If your hotel lists fireplaces and free WiFi everywhere, including your website, you better damn well provide what the customer is paying for!

Ester Lee is our favorite Pet Friendly Hotel in LC
This is a quaint vintage mid-century boutique hotel on the top of a bluff just before Taft. We stayed in one of the pet friendly cottages with an ocean view. The room was quite a large suite and very clean, no pet scents. There were add'l chairs to watch tv, along with a full kitchen with table, chairs, dishes and pans, fridge, oven and stove. The only drawback was a very small bathroom and shower, but it was still very nice for an overnight stay at the beach. The staff was friendly and checkin and out was quick.

Worst place we have stayed! Bed bugs!
Update! Bed bugs! .... Before booking I called to ask questions, but the call was to a reservation service that doesn't even live or work near the motel. They told me that after booking through a third party I could call the hotel to let them know about ADA needs. Reserved a suite for 4 people. Started calling the motel at 4pm, left a message, kept calling until 8:30pm. Office hours are from 10am to 8pm. Never got a return call! Got a welcome text, saying to let them know if we needed anything. Again I told them about the ADA needs. Got a text enroute to location that they could not meet our needs, suggested a different room type. I asked what type of room. They told me they found the type of room I had reserved with no stairs. Great. Told them I would be there after hours we made arrangements to get the key. The room was an old, smelly, run down space that looked nothing like the pictures! Sleeps 2! Half our party had to go find other accommodations at 10pm. No interior dead bolt or locks. Door rattled all night long. Furniture was filthy. Had to wait around to talk to office staff. The person at the desk was rude and uncaring about our situation. Waste of time, energy, and money! Worst place we have ever stayed! If I could give negative stars I would.

Get Away
The room was very comfortable. Great view of the ocean. I had a one bedroom suite. Only issue was internet was down the whole time I was there. Ice machine was broke and the phone in the room was not working. This they said was because of the storm that they had earlier. I would stay there again as it was very comfortable. Had a fireplace insert in the room also.

The view is worth the cons, we’ll be back next yr.
Pros: AMAZING VIEW, cozy retro cottage, comfortable bed, reasonably priced, stayed here yearly for over 15 yrs. Cons: New management last few yrs..Front desk person was very rude as we checked in. Power spikes caused heat to not work in rooms, had to move people to different rooms (this happened 2 yrs in a row). Ice machine broken down, still have not replaced it. Hot water took at least 2 minutes to get to shower and sinks after turning on each time. Shower/tub really needs some deep cleaning or replacement on the wall tiles. Looks like mold.

Budget friendly with nice view, but poor service
View was nice and price was reasonable. Could not get in contact with the front desk and arrived after their office was closed. Was glad to see the Emergency # on the door and was able to get my key quickly. Could not get anyone to answer my request for the wifi password.

I specifically booked a room with a fireplace, that was not working. The toilet took about 5 minutes to first each time with multiple tries, there was no shower head.... was an okay stay but we probably won't be back for the price vs what we got.

Don't stay here
When we first arrived at the property 30 minutes early, we were told our room was not ready. We left and came back an hour or so later and checked in. When went to our cottage, there was a car parked on the walk way blocking our door forcing us to walk thru bolders and wrestle our bags into our room. The cottage was old and had an old smell to it. We asked the front desk to have the car moved for our safety. If there was an emergency we would have had a hard time getting out. It was moved a few feet ahead, still in the walk way around 6am instead of into an open parking space. The bed and linen were also old. We will not ever be returning to this location.

Not likely to stay again
Lobby hours are somewhat inconvenient being 10am - 8pm. There is an after hours number that was called to find out how to make gas fireplace work but after calling 3 times, letting it ring 5 or 6 rings it went to a voicemail message. Voicemail message indicated to try number a couple times and if no answer to call yet another number. Never went there however and gave up. Window in room 211 had gap in between such that a very good wind came through along side the makeshift plastic slide on bottom and stick to hold it cosed. Door to room also had huge wind draft around it. Bathroom door looked to be chewed up on both top and bottom as if animals scratched at it to get in/out so solution was to flip door to only have it happen again. We had stayed here a few years back in room 210 and it wasn't as bad. Room 211 however this stay was horrible. Seems almost as if maintenance doesn't exist and hotel reminds me of owners running it as "slum lords" with little to no money back into it for upgrading/upkeep.

This is my first stay at this location. I, like a dummy, did NOT read the latest Google reviews. They tell the whole story. First, the view is hard to match - 10 stars! The rest, not so much. We booked a cottage which, based on the description and photos, was well equipped. Unfortunately, the room has not been updated since the 1940s,it was run down, the bed SAGGED! The door, the locks, stove, microwave and refrigerator were rusted and nasty. The room, located down a long flight of narrow, slippery stairs, was freezing. Turning on the gas fireplace dis nothing, it was also corroded and non-functional. We finally found a remote that turned on a cheap electric fireplace that was half hidden by the old couch. Still the room was freezing. In an attempt to salvage the experience we tried to heat some dinner in the microwave, only to have the power for the whole room for out. The front desk person explained that the cottage still had 1940s wiring and we couldn't turn on so many things! Yeah... Your choice, lights, heat or microwave! We demanded, and after some time received a new room in a more modern part of the motel (note - the clerk told us when we arrived that no other rooms were available, in spite of the fact that it was a Thursday afternoon and the parking lot was empty.) On the positive side, the new room was comfortable and modern, though the TV did not work. We stayed both booked nights, mainly because the view is so special from this location.

Freezing Experience
We had to make the best of a not great situation. Got there and our "cottage" was upstairs?? Odd? Then asked for change of room and was told there was another room at ground level that had a wood fireplace instead of gas. At that time i didn't know that was the primary heat source. We got in there and it was freezing!!! Person in charge said first bundle of wood was free, but others would be $10. It was our ONLY form of real heat except for a small oil heater and a defective wall heater?? No heat in bedroom or bathroom. Then after we got fire going and the chill off half of the "cottage" had no power. The wall heater flipped it! As I said, we made the best of it, did not buy wood from them,(should have been free because only real source of heat). FYI SAFEWAY SELLS SAME BUNDLES FOR JUST UNDER $7. The fire was nice, but by morning it was freezing again. No deadbolt on door was disconcerting!! Only real redeeming part was THE VIEW!!! Will never stay here again and do not recommend!

Just fabulous. Perfectly dated, clean, well appointed, ocean view and fireplace. I like a hotel that does old school vibes correctly, and they did just that. I prefer character over new and too fancy. The kitchen was the best. The hot water in the shower was a bit unpredictable, but otherwise it was the perfect vacay. Great for a romantic stay or a family trip. This would be my first pick next time i go to Lincoln City.

The shower heads need updated BIG TIME. Not enough garbage receptacles in a two bedroom cottage. One small garbage for the entire place. When we arrived and were checked in, they texted to let us know if we needed anything to ask in that text message log. I asked for the wifi password 4 times with no response. I called the front desk 3x and it rang off the hook. Great views tho.
