I cannot say enough good about the Royal Palm. We stayed there twice during our recent trip to Gabon. The rooms were comfortable, the restaurant delicious and the facilities nicely appointed and air-conditioned. What amazed us about the Royal Palm was the flexibility of the staff. They allowed us to check out "whenever you want." Literally. We had late flights on two days, and we stayed as late as we needed to. We also took the key by mistake and they laughed it off. Finally we changed the reservation and shortened our second reservation by one day; they said they never received the email from Hotels.com, which could certainly be true, and when I showed them the email I received from Hotels. com, they HONORED IT. When our room flooded (rainy season!) they moved us in a nanosecond to a second floor room and I would recommend that anyone staying there request a second floor room, and were apologetic about it. The breakfast is not a buffet, but does include eggs. My only complaint is that they do not take credit cards. They have the machines, but they do not work. I called my credit card company to verify that my cards should have worked, and they confirmed this. The hotel next door has ATM's so go there to get the cash you will need. They accept either Euro or XFA. I would stay there again.
