The room was okay but no view.l at all. People at hotel were very friendly. The food in the restaurant was pretty decent. However I found the booking through hotels.com to be very unusual. The hotel insisted that I pay them direct half the booking cost before arrival. When I received the message to do this I was very concerned that it was some kind of a scam, but I checked as much as I could, took a chance and it wasn't. Usually I rely on hotels.com to cover all the payments so you know you're safe but for some reason the hotel chose to do things differently. When we left I got the final bill which had an extra $50 a night for a second person when the booking clearly said it was for two. They did fix this and we left. But the 50% of accommodation was not on the final invoice so I assumed somehow this would be charged back to hotels.com. Anyway I then had to arrange a second payment to settle this. Hopefully they can streamline this for others going forward.

Stayed in the “deluxe” king size ocean front room, quotes are because there is nothing deluxe outside of the view. Water pressure was terrible, breakfast took 2 hours and was not worth it. The room was amazing as we stayed in the Raphael! Jerry, Itzel, Sonia and Manuel the bartender were fantastic and gracious hosts as we got a full tour of most of the rooms (some were occupied and couldn't be viewed). They are undergoing a remodel right now but it didnt bother us as there is plenty to do and see during the day in the Romantic Zone and even in downtown Puerto Vallarta. The restaurant in hotel is very good food and its a 1 minute walk right out to the beach! For authentic mexican feel, this Hotel is it! If the construction bothers you then book in January when they are complete, we will definitely be staying here again and cant wait to see the finished product!
