Firstly I have to say that I am totally unaccustomed to leaving negative reviews, but sadly I have to say "don't go" to this, no doubt once very classy, little boutique hotel.
Before going any further it is worth mentioning that the staff (we only saw 3!) were lovely, extremely well meaning, and obliging. (We're guessing/deducing, severely let down by an absentee owner).
Apart from the staff, the only other attribute was the superb position, overlooking and directly onto the river estuary. The dining area, seating area, and most of the rooms have this excellent view.
But! our room was terrible! The cane fronted wardrobe looked like it had been attacked by monkeys (it probably had!) The little fridge looked like it should be in a museum, was filthy and probably unsafe. The toilet/shower room looked like it was old in the 1980s! During our foreshortened stay there was no attempt at housekeeping. We also had a cockroach for company in the bathroom. Need I go further? We checked out a day early, losing a night's booking payment, but we really couldn't stay any longer.
Until there is confirmation that this, potentially beautiful, little place has had a serious upgrade, my/our advice would be to give it a miss.
