Not a luxary hotel but the couple that own it are kind and hospitable. Comfortable-Standard continental breakfast with muffins, cereal, coffee and croissants. You don't travel to upstate NY for the hotels.- the thick wonderful air, mountains, woods and critters make it all worth it.

A great stopping point with our motorcycles. The river flowing behind the property is stunning. We saw a beaver and small deer when we hiked down. The owner was sweet and very accommodating.

This motel room was poorly arranged with the TV in a place that was completely unusable- on the back corner behind the beds. The room was very cramped, the finishes very old and not refurbished, and dust and spider webs in places. The toilet seat was very low and the outlet in the bathroom didn’t work. Also the soaps and shampoos were low quality. If this place were $20-$30 cheaper, most people would chalk it up to being a place to stay with a clean and comfortable enough bed…. You’re definitely paying for the beauty of the area, and it is beautiful.

My stay at Black Bear Lodge was great. The room was comfortable and clean and contained everything I needed. The shower was great - no waiting for hot water! The location was quiet and convenient. The staff was helpful. Breakfast was perfect - coffee, tea, cereal, muffins, croissants, etc. Check in and out was simple. And the price I paid was very reasonable. I hope to stay there again!
