Hosts were charming, personable, and informative. Out of the way but easy to find and near a small town with restaurants and shops. Grounds were serene and beautiful – you can tell a lot of work and love went into the gardens and property. The bed was comfortable, and the room was surprisingly quiet for an old country house. Bathrooms were updated and no issues with water pressure, hot water, etc. Our room had a coffee machine and a water boiler for tea. There was no fridge in the room, but they have a “guest kitchen” with two small refrigerators, plates, cups, glasses, utensils, etc., so you can go buy wine, cheese, etc. and keep it there. Breakfast was served in the garden patio with coffee, homemade and local pastries, breads, cheese, juices, and fresh strawberries. Hosts made scrambled eggs or omelets at your preference. One of the only places we’ve stayed where we felt sad when leaving. We rarely return to the same place (the world is huge!) but this would be the only place we would stay if we were anywhere near here again.
