I like the hospitality of the Hotel especially Heday-san. He picked us up and dropped us off at the train station, gave us explanation about the area clearly. The hotel has private onsen and it’s very nice. I highly recommend to stay in this hotel.

Great host
Heyday is a great host. He is funny, conscientious and gracious. The facility needs some maintenance and updates, but the room was comfortable.
Bozanso is the perfect base for skiing or snow monkeys. Heday, your host, is an absolute character who LOVES the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. He also LOVES Yamanouchi town which is where he was born. He will go out of his way to make sure you have a wonderful experience. He will happily pick you up and drop you off anywhere you want to go. He speaks English and is interested in learning about your life, and he knows all of the great restaurants (please take his advice! You won't be sorry!). The hotel itself is a little old and a little tired and a little cold in the common areas (February), but Heday's personality and friendliness make up for the deficiencies. Your room will be a traditional Japanese room with a futon, excellent pillows, big fluffy comforter, and an oil heater to heat the room quickly (just use it to heat the room initially, then use the electric heater, as CO2 is a problem with oil heaters, as well as being a fire hazard. You'll be perfectly warm once the room warms up). Enjoy the onsen (traditional public bathhouse); tell Heday if it's too hot and he will add colder water to cool it down. Take advantage of the traditional Japanese breakfast, which Heday's wife makes. It's a delicious, random selection of food. You'll come away from your stay with a new friend, funny memories, and an appreciation for a person who loves his business, his community, and his lifestyle. I highly recommend staying at Bozanso.

Heday makes the Day
Wonderfully spacious traditional rooms and amenities. Enjoyed the onsen—used it twice a day. Heday takes special care of everyone who comes. If you get a chance, go witness the monkeys deep in the woods.
My one night at Bozanso was amazing! I enjoyed everything from the kotatsu to onsen and especially the hospitality of Heday-san. He picked us up, helped with the train, drove us to Snow Monkey park. I loved it so much!

Great for families
A wonderful stay in the mountains. Heday our host was great! Very helpful and good for a laugh!! Picked us up and dropped us off at the station ( in the heavy snow). The meals were fantastic! Onsen was great after a hard day walking. Heaps of space in the rooms and the lobby area for my kids (2 and 5 years old) to run around. Walking distance to Shibu Onsen town. Heday also took us to the monkey park. The ryokan is old fashioned but it suited us fine. Most ryokans are old fashioned it’s part of the charm. Highly recommended
We have found it difficult to find places that will accommodate our family in one room while travelling in Asia--Bozanso offered a lovely room consisting of an area with two futons for the kids and comfortable beds for the adults-it was a pretty 15 min walk from train station in the evening when we arrived and a pleasure to wake up to misty, mountainous views in the morning.
The very best thing about the place was our wonderful host, and other reviews indicated the same--Heday-San met us at the train, took our bags, got us some (much needed!) umbrellas, and showed us where we could get a nice dinner, presenting several options. When we made our way to the hotel later, our bags were in our room, slippers were waiting for us at the door, and he kindly offered not only to take us to the Monkey park in the morning but to pick us up and take us to the train station in time for our departing train as well--he was charming, funny, and so very generous with his time--
Thanks for a great stay--would happily recommend this to anyone spending a night in order to visit this lovely town or to visit the Monkey Park. I wish we could have spent one additional day to explore this very pretty town as well.

Friendly and welcoming
This hotel was the best one we have stayed in. We were so grateful to Heyday-San and his wife. They made us feel so welcome and like we were invited guests at his house. We would recommend Bozanso to everyone.
