When return to Devonport, will stay in The Grand as it was the high point of our lodging during our trip to Tasmania. Breakfasts are a delight, a five-star dining experience. It is convenient to the ferry terminal and a short walk to shopping and restaurants. Cradle Mountain and Narawntapu National Park are easily visited on a day trip.

The facilities were poorly maintained and it lacked hospitality. Many rules, but hardly any service or communication. The balcony‘s seating area was in an intolerable state, also there was a lot of dust everywhere. Considering the rate, Breakfast was not more than acceptable. In general, it is a great house with great potential, which should be better managed, but for that we feel that more staff would be needed. Very comfortable beds!

Grand it certainly is, with enormous style and character. Comfy beds, beautiful rooms and decor, charming hosts, delicious breakfast served on gold rimmed china - what's not to love? If you are there on a Sunday afternoon, ask about their cream teas in advance - the clotted cream is home made!
