When we arrived in Kyoto on Sept. 19, we went to the Hotel Sagano and dropped off our luggage. We thought it was strange that they did not use room keys. Then we toured the area. When we returned to the station, we asked at the tourist information center for the phone number to call the hotel to pick us up. We were told that the hotel was not on their list. Another worker there told us the hotel was not “proper,” that it was a “love hotel.” That’s why they didn’t use keys.
My wife, niece, and 2 adult boys were flabbergasted. We had no idea the hotel was that kind. I re-checked the listing on Hotels.com, and all it said was Adults Only. I had no idea what that meant. I thought it was because little children run around and cause noise, or something like that. If I had known, I would never have booked the hotel. Also, I expected better from Hotels.com, which I used in Odawara, and many friends recommended to me.
Hotels.com says they can not reach the hotel manager to get us a refund. I will never use Hotels.com again. Nor Expedia, who sent us to Hotels.com.
