The Parsonage Hotel and Spa is a lovely alternative to your typical chain hotel. Yes, the main building is a little dated in places, but what it might lack in modern touches, it more than makes up for in character and charm. Sometimes a bit of old-fashioned personality beats another identikit hotel room!
One of the real highlights is the excellent Fat Abbot pub on site, where we enjoyed some fantastic food. The Cloisters Spa is another big plus, with great facilities and thoroughly enjoyable treatments. Having both on your doorstep really adds to the experience.
The location is another selling point. Situated just south of York, the hotel is conveniently close to the Askham Bar Park & Ride, making it easy to explore the city without the hassle or expense of parking in the centre.
All in all, a really enjoyable stay. It might not be the most modern hotel around, but with its character, excellent food, relaxing spa and convenient location, there’s plenty to recommend it. We’d happily return.
