I booked this apartment as an alternative to a hotel. It was for myself, my elderly mother and 2 kids. We were coming for my mother’s emergency medical treatment. The website advertised it as non-smoking. However, that was not the case. Upon entering the apartment, we felt the cigarette smoke. I could tell that people smoke there all the time. In addition to that there was glitter on the floor, crumbs on the coffee table and pieces of salad on the floor.
I immediately called customer service of the apartments. They didn’t even apologize but instead told me that yes, sometimes their guests smoke and that there’s nothing they could do about it. I told them it’s unacceptable! They said that they could send someone to clean the apartment but we would have to leave it for at least 2 hours and that it wouldn’t guarantee smoke smell removal. What?
I demanded to speak to the manager. They were rude, told me there’s no manager, then each person I spoke to said they were the manager. It was a mess! I said that I need a place to stay and since they screwed up they should own their mistake and offer an alternative. They lied there was no alternative, then they offered an apartment on the other side of the city and when I asked them if they guarantee there’s no smoke smell there, the answer was NO!
I had no choice but to go and stay in Hilton. They knew I left because a person showed up to check the apartment when I was leaving. Nobody ever called or apologized or offered a refund!
