They did a great job of converting a candy factory into a comfortable hotel, while still maintaining some of the early architectural elements. Some of the original signage was incorporated into the decor of the lobby and restaurants.
The staff, mostly young people, were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel welcome.
The restaurant was outstanding with food quality and presentation that you'd expect in a big city. (The prices were also at big-city levels.) We especially enjoyed the French onion soup. The crab cake appetizer was sufficient for my main course.
We also tried the Parlour (coffee shop), where we had fantastic croissants and the Rooftop Terrace, where we enjoyed wood-fired pizzas while watching the sunset.
The Charmant is in a terrific location, about 2 blocks from the Mississippi River. Just a few block in the other direction, you can find shops and cafes.
