Good hotel but beware of some details
Very nice hotel, great location. Service and food are good, but not at the level of a 5 star hotel. Especially at the Trapiche restaurant on the terrace, service was very slow and the staff not very professional, as they spent more time talking to each other in the corner than paying attention to the guests (it felt to a certain extent that they were not permanent staff or that they were training?).
The Spa and the staff in the spa were top notch.
As for the room, it was very nice but I did not realise it was one of those new design rooms where the shower is in the room and has no doors. While this was not a problem for me as I was on my own, the issue was not having a door, as the whole room got humid from the steam of the hot water and I could hear the water dropping at night after taking a shower. Could also hear my next door neighbours shower in the morning, which woke me up a couple of times.
Also strange was the fact that to get to the indoor swimming pool, you had to walk outdoors in the terrace (not the case if you paid extra to use the spa facilities). So not great for a rainy day or when it's not too hot. Felt like the indoor pool was an after-thought in the hotel design.
Overall, nice hotel but not necessarily as great quality as I was expecting from a 5 star.
