Bright's Creek Lodge was booked based on the advertised amenities -- most importantly the Tom Fazio golf course adjoining this property. What wasn't mentioned in the description: The golf course and the restaurant are closed on Mondays, the night we booked. What we also didn't realize is that this facility is located 30 minutes from any other amenities -- food, golf, etc. It is in a very remote, albeit beautiful, area of the Blue Ridge mountains. After checking in, we accepted our fate and drove to Lake Lure to golf and dine. Nice, but not we'd planned for the afternoon and evening.
The staff, facility, and the room were very nice. But lacking dinner services most days, not a hotel by most definitions. Another word to the wise: Room 305 overlooks a massive parking lot, not hole 9, as advertised. Nor does the lodge's only elevator reach rooms 305 or 306; you must use stairs. Also be aware that the hotel desk staff is only there from 8:30am-6pm, and the reservation fine print says those arriving late will need to wait until the next morning to check in.
In hindsight, we realized this is could be a great venue for those wishing to escape into the wilderness, to golf and/or to enjoy equestrian events on site. But I'd avoid Monday. And also be aware that the restaurant has very limited hours most of the rest of the week (e.g. 9am-2pm Tues-Thurs); so be sure to call and ask for hours before booking if you want to dine on site.
