This was our second stay at Bisma Eight in Ubud, and we were really looking forward to returning after an amazing experience in 2024. The hotel is still beautiful, and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
However, we have to be honest and say that we are not leaving with the same positive impression this time.
As Gold members on Hotels.com with VIP Access, we are entitled to benefits such as a complimentary massage per person and a room upgrade subject to availability. We had booked one of the most expensive rooms, but were not upgraded to a villa, even though we could clearly see availability on Hotels.com for the same dates. Additionally, we were not offered the complimentary massage upon arrival, which is also part of the benefits. We had to bring this up ourselves, and were then only given 30 minutes instead of the 60 minutes we received during our previous stay. This is very disappointing, especially considering the hotel’s standard and reputation.
We also felt that the hotel has declined somewhat since our last visit. There were blood stains on the walls, and the bathrooms appear more worn than before.
At checkout, we were not asked about our stay, which feels unprofessional for a hotel of this level.
Overall, this is still a beautiful hotel with kind staff, but unfortunately the experience this time did not live up to the expectations set by our first visit. We do not think we will return on our next trip to Ubud, which is very disappointing.
