We had a wonderful relaxing stay for a week at the Beachcomber all inclusive resort.
Grounds and facilities are beautiful, comfortable and meticulously cared for by the friendly and helpful staff.
We particularly enjoyed playing tennis, basketball, & disc golf, followed by boogie boarding, swimming in the pool, and relaxing in the huge jacuzzi. We had wonderful and inspiring walks along the beach, which is accessible for more than 3++ km in both directions -- we had most all of the beach to ourselves but we were also happy to see a few friendly fishermen, crab catchers, and local children further down the beach. The water conditions were great for swimming and body-surfing / boogie boarding all day, but especially in the morning, when wind conditions were more calm, and the water glassy. There are excellent surf breaks directly in front of the Beachcomber, with a couple of the keen local surfers taking full advantage of the extra good days of offshore-storm-related surf conditions.
The fishermen were successful in netting various edible fish as well as gathering some large blue and spider crabs. It was fascinating to see the fishermen launching their small boat and paddling out through the shore break at dawn, hoisting their primitive blue tarpaulin sail and heading out to the fishing grounds, returning hours later with their catch.
Las Canas is a special unaffected quiet location. For most of the day and night, you just hear the surf on the beach, the wind in the palms
