Nice hotel, condescending guest services
The stay itself was nice enough, but upon checking in we were informed that we had two reservations. I only received confirmation for one. We got on the phone with both Expedia and Mr Hampton in guest services. Mr Hampton claimed the room was prepaid, but it was not and this was confirmed by Expedia. Mr Hampton insisted that only Expedia could refund us, but Expedia said they could not issue a refund because they did not collect the payment. Expedia authorized Sewanee Inn to issue a refund, but Mr Hampton refused. We finally asked and were transferred to someone else who explained they have a 72 hour cancellation policy to which I said I didn’t even know about the second reservation because I never received confirmation and asked how could I cancel a reservation that I didn’t know existed. I asked if they could make an exception to their cancellation policy and was told only the general manager has that authority. We still hope to resolve the issue.
