A Relaxing Base with True Irish Hospitality
Our stay at Hillgrove Guesthouse was a relaxing and comfortable experience. While it is slightly removed from the central area, this location made it feel safe and peaceful, with the convenience of a Lidl grocery store across the street for picking up wine and snacks.
The guesthouse itself is somewhat dated, though the bathroom had been recently renovated. Our room was clean and comfortable; the beds were very good, though the furniture could use updating. Check-in was easy and the staff were exceptionally friendly. Stephen, who was on nights when we returned, truly exemplified Irish hospitality; warm, welcoming and full of helpful tips on what to see and do in the area.
The location is excellent, just under 1 km to the information centre on the harbour. After reading some reviews beforehand, we were apprehensive but our experience was great. Hillgrove Guesthouse offers a comfortable stay with a touch of true Irish hospitality.
