This hotel was under construction, which was understood before check in. That was not the problem. What was the problem was check in. Our flight got in at about 1:30 am, so we checked in at the hotel at about 2 am after a long day. Check in was very quick, but when we went to our room, the privacy door latch from inside the room was engaged, meaning someone was inside of the room we had just been assigned. When we went back to the front desk and explained that there was a person already in there, we were assigned a new room. If this had not been the middle of the night, this would not have been acceptable. New room was downstairs, and the stairwell smelled like mildew. The room was fine, the bed was big, comfortable, and clean (this is why 3 stars). The thermostat in the room didnt work, but the the climate was fine enough. Also, at like 4 am there werw odd sounds coming from the room above us which sounded like dice on a tile floor and some other banging noices. I assume it was a guest room above us, but the rooms are carpeted. Also didn't seem like construction because it was so early in the morning.
I'm from a big city, so the location didn't bother me much, but if you are uncomfortable with unhoused neighbors near the hotel, maybe splurge on a nicer place.
The hotel would have been decent for us if there wasn't thay huge check in mistake.
