I had a good time this past weekend at Delina Mountain Resort in Anogia, south of Rethymno, here on Crete. But I have learned, once again, not to trust Apple Maps, or Google Maps. Both of them took me down a closed road with construction equipment and a missing bridge. Normally I might find that amusing, but I was anxious to get to the resort after a 2 ½ hour drive. I chose my own way around that mess and arrived at the resort an hour later. This was a quiet and peaceful place with only 13 rooms. I think it was just me and maybe two other guests. The cafe, across the manmade pond, kept busy all the time, presumably from local villagers coming to eat. The pork chops were on par with pork chops at most village tavernas. The fava beans I had the next day were quite good. The owner of this resort is a famous Greek singer, but I didn’t get his name. He performed at the cafe Sunday evening and well over 100 people came to watch and enjoy food and drink. I listened from my private balcony. The breakfast was room service only, which I ordered when I checked in. I chose 9 am for my delivery time and there was a knock on my door at exactly 9 am. I’m impressed with their punctuality. The breakfast buffet was closed because of Covid, the same with their indoor heated pool. All in all, a relaxing weekend.
