For a cheap one-night or short term stay, Omena offers a very convenient central location near the Kamppi metro/tram stop and shopping center, with basic amenities, smooth self-check in and self-admission. Do be aware that this is a staffless hotel, so make sure to keep your phone charged and/or the door code written down. There is also a billiard bar downstairs, open until 5 AM on most weekdays, with occasional rowdiness outside. Probably not the first choice if you are traveling with children, but for adult budget travelers with realistic expectations, it’s good value for the money. The only issue during my last stay here was that the shower basin was quite slow to drain, and a lack of surfaces to put down bathroom products, which in both cases constitute only minor inconveniences.

We stayed for one night during a long stopover between flights. The location is fantastic — very close to the central station, which makes it easy to reach the airport, and within walking distance of several major attractions. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but it has all the necessary facilities and everything we needed for a comfortable short stay.

There is only one power socket in the room and that is way too high up the wall. Had to use the 2 chairs in the room to put my stuff on and use the other as a bedside table. Very quiet and warm as it was 2 degrees outside. Microwave a handy bonus. Easy access as long as you keep note of entry code as you need the number to enter the building , use the lift and enter your room.

Omena hotel was very central and overall it was a nice stay. The code didn't always work the first time it was put in (even though the light was green) and there were a few stains in the bathroom. But overall the stay was exactly what you need in a hotel and their communication was great throughout

The perfect budget option in downtown Helsinki. The room was a good size, coffee and a refrigerator were very welcome. The beds were comfortable and it was nice having two luggage racks. Our only complaint was that the windows don’t open for fresh air and the room was stuffy and too warm overnight, in spite of it being quite cold outside. Rooms should have a fan or at least some way to control the temperature.
