There was a bit of confusion for us arriving to the property. The sign board is down the road a bit at the corner. We mistakenly thought the large property behind was the hotel. Once that was sorted, we got to the security gate, and was escorted in with a warm welcome.
The exterior of the building is well maintained, with on-site parking, and outdoors open spaces to sit, enjoy the ample breezes and really relax. The initial impression was pleasant overall.
At the Receptionist desk, the young lady behind the counter, after greeting us, she couldn't find the reservation. She called her Supervisor, and she quickly got keys for a room. Before we were even settled, there was a knock on the door, the Manager asked for us.
I was told, they don't use Expedia anymore. I sat through the story of another fellow that came with an Expedia itinerary, and Expedia never paid for the Guys stay, so the Manager had to use his own personal money to recoup the costs.
This is where the hamster wheel of issues truly began. So many operational issues, to save time I'll just list them.
1) False advertising - What I was asked to pay in local currency $40K NGN per night is not the $11.14 - 14.00 p.n. I paid through Expedia on a 28 night stay.
2) Unstable power -We never had a full day of power.
3) Unstable Internet, Wi-Fi & TV - All were constantly fluctuating. TV worked on Internet.
4) Water shortages -
5) Hotel essentials shortages
6) Disturbing noises.
