Disappointing Experience at Estérel – Lack of Attention to Guests and Special Occasions
I booked Estérel with the expectation of celebrating my birthday in a special way, especially after the hotel’s attentive response assuring me they would do everything to make my stay memorable. However, what I experienced was absolute neglect and a lack of attention to the guest experience.
At check-in, it was me who had to mention that I was there to celebrate my birthday. I asked if there was anything special for such an occasion, and the receptionist responded vaguely, asking, “What would you like?” They suggested sparkling wine but said they didn’t have any available and ended up giving me a bottle of regular wine. The initiative clearly came from me, not the hotel.
At other hotels of similar or higher standards, I have always been pleasantly surprised with thoughtful gestures in the room, such as birthday messages, champagne, or personalized kits. At Estérel, none of this happened. It was as if my birthday was just another ordinary day, with no special consideration whatsoever. For a hotel that positions itself as luxurious, the lack of attention to detail was both shocking and disappointing.
