Disappointing Stay – Failed to Meet Basic 3-Star Expectations
Having stayed at properties across different categories, I have reasonable expectations of a 3-star hotel. Unfortunately, Mainland Resorts failed to meet even the basics.
Firstly, the property is branded as Kolahalam, making it confusing to locate under the name Mainland Resorts.
The only positive was the spacious room with an additional queen bed on a raised platform, convenient for kids.
We ordered evening tea from the restaurant, but it never arrived, nor were we informed.
The biggest disappointment was the terrible soundproofing. We could clearly hear guests watching TV and a baby crying around midnight, making it nearly impossible to sleep. I've never experienced such poor sound insulation in any previous stay.
The next morning, there wasn't sufficiently hot water for a comfortable bath.
Breakfast was equally disappointing, with limited South Indian options. Surprisingly, we were told eggs would be delayed because staff had gone out to procure them! This was highly unprofessional.
What's the point of booking a hotel if you can't sleep peacefully, take a proper hot bath, or enjoy a decent breakfast?
Overall, a huge letdown. If these basic comforts matter to you, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
