The staff were really great, the room was larger and more comfortable than I had expected which was great (I took a private room with a private shower). However the street the hostel is on was terrifying, filled with groups of immigrant men lurking around at all hours of the day and night. It was also incredibly noisy during the one night I stayed there as people filled the streets to celebrate some world-cup nonsense until 3AM, honking car horns, shouting and shooting fireworks.
The area just up the road towards the main square has a lot of police presence, so if you're traveling solo, it is worth spending a bit more on one of the larger hotels right on the square, especially if you are a woman solo traveler. I literally had to take a taxi for just 400 meters as it was too dangerous to walk to the hostel after sundown, the Greek taxi driver walked me to the door and told me not to come out alone at night. That says a lot
