Clean rooms, convenient location
We chose Merope because it was close by to family we were visting, and convenient to shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is in good condition and clean. However, the surrounding area, especially the parking area, was quite dirty, with trash strewn about, overflowing trash cans, and cats everywhere. When we first arrived, I was afraid we had made a big mistake booking this hotel. Once inside, there is a spacious marble lobby and breakfast area (spotlessly clean), very helpful staff, and clean rooms. The rooms are a bit dated --but for the price, we were not disappointed. Breakfast buffet was ample with a good selection of items. Pool area is spacious, towels and chairs are provided. Pool itself was in need of cleaning. Water had a green tint which was unappealing to my family. There is a small pool bar and it was pleasant to sit outdoors and enjoy the nice weather.

Very good value
Hotel is next to the main bus stop of Karlovasi and a bit further than taxi stop and shops. Room was basic with all necessary stuff. Only slight issues were no wifi even at the lobby (at least we could not connect to the wifi service) and no place to hold shower head. I think for the price very good hotel.

Very good choice indeed
Very good hotel, close to bus station and main square. Within walking distance to restaurants and supermarket, bakery nearby. You could use a car to get there from the ferry harbor (a few car rental agencies can be found walking along the road toward Karlovassi). Nice outdoor pool. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the pool area, with a great view of the surrounding area (including a Byzantine church). Breakfast buffet very good. Friendly and helpful staff. Free parking.

Rigtig hyggeligt familiedrevet hotel.
Rigtig fint hotel. Noget bedre end billederne viser. Poolområdet på hotellet giver en god og hyggelig feriestemning med musik rundt om i haven og legende børn i poolen. Dog skal det sige at mens vi var der udlejede de poolen til svømning af lokale børn fra ca 9.30 - 12 hver dag. Hvilket betyder du først kan komme i poolen derefter. De er meget servicenindede på hotellet og hjælper gerne. Vi fik endda værelset med den bedste havudsigt uden at have betalt for det. Dog kan det være et problem at ikke alle på hotellet er engelsk talende.

Hotell Merope
Klart hyggligt budget alternativ. Ligger inne i stan. Inga turiststråk i närheten. Taxi till stranden kostar 70 spänn. Väldigt trevlig personal på hotellet som ställer upp och hjälper till på ett trevligt sätt. Bra pool med simskola (tror jag) på morgonen. Det finns dock INTE något Wi-Fi på rummet som det står i beskrivningen, däremot så finns detta i lobbyn.

Hotel Merope i Karlovassi, Samos
Vi var afsted fra d. 16/7 - 30/7 - 2011 Ansatte: De ansatte på Merope er søde og smilende, snakker udmærket engelsk, og vil meget gerne hjælpe eller vejlede. Mad: Morgenmaden er, som man kan forvente, ikke noget særligt: Hvidt franskbrød med lidt forskelligt pålæg, græsk yoghurt med dåsefersken og noget chokopops-agtigt morgenmadsprodukt, dertil vand, saft, måske mælk og kaffe. Det meste smager af sukker. Aftensmaden skal bestilles dagen forinden til normale priser, men maden er tydeligvis lavet tidligere på dagen, smager ikke fantastisk og er knap nok varmet op. Værelser: Værelset var hyggeligt og afslappende at være i. Der stod et køleskab, skrivebord, et lille cafébord og et lille og dårligt fungerende tv med græske kanaler. Vores 'dobbeltseng' bestod af to senge, som var skubbet sammen, dertil to sengeborde. Sengene var ganske forfærdelige at ligge i, og vi vågnede mange gange i løbet af natten med madrassens fjedre i ryggen. Aircondition virkede fint, men var meget larmende. Vi var så heldige at ligge med nord - nord-vest, så vi havde havudsigt fra altanen. Hygiejne: Hotellet er forholdvis nyt og i rigtig god stand. Der er rent og pænt over det hele, og der bliver bestemt gjort meget ud af god hygiejne. Der bliver vasket gulve og gjort rent hver dag, både på værelserne, ved poolen og i de øvrige opholdsrum på hotellet. Vær opmærksom på: - Hotellets pool er i alle hverdage optaget fra kl. 8. om morgen til kl 12-13 stykker, hvor den bliver brugt til svømmeundervisning. - Hotellet blev i vores periode i høj grad brugt af græske pensionister og enkelte græske børnefamilier. Vi mødte på intet tidspunkt skandinaviske turister hverken på hotellet eller i resten af byen. - Man kan med fordel benytte sig af den offentlige buslinje, som kører 5 minutters gang fra hotellet. En tur til Samos City koster 6 Euro pr. voksen person, og er meget billigere end at tage en taxa (i skrivende stund koster en sådan ca. 1 Euro pr. km.). Alt i alt et fint hotel til 3 stjerner. Orden, renlighed og de ansatte trækker især op.
