Travelers, be warned! This is not a real hotel. I thought I was getting a hotel room, not a strange short term rental from a condo in a dilapidated building. I was shocked when there was no staff to check us in, but instead I was supposed to respond to an email sent the day before that I needed to submit a credit card for an additional security deposit and cleaning fee (not on the initial bill). Only after completing this would I be emailed the room number and code to get in. The single person at the front desk couldn't help me with any of this, it had to be done via email. As I'm wondering around old San Juan with my family I'm frantically communicating with someone from ESJ telling me they are about to leave for the day and I need to complete my CC form. Terrible. The room itself was very clean except for one thing, there was a leak above the toilet from one floor above from what I assume was another toilet. So if you sat on the toilet, water from above fell on you. Gross. The sheets and bed linens did not feel great or match the price of the room.
