Quite a lot of dust under the bed as there was a colt folded which might not been out for a long time, so around it was quite a lot of dust. Blinds in the room and private bathroom had to be rolled manually as the string no longer existed. Bathroom window cracked but intact double glazing. Bed was warm, clean and comfy. There was a fridge and microwave in room, which was noisy and convenient at the same time. Toaster, kettle and hairdryer also available in the room. A booklet with loads of local practical information. Lovely garden. Host friendly and very approachable

I fully recommend this hotel. Very friendly, proffecional duty manager, even carried my bag upstairs! Very dog friendly, clean comfortable rooms & bathroom in a beautiful edwardian arts & crafts house with a lovely swimming pool, bbq, outdoor kitchen etc. Owner Joanne was so welcoming & I fully encourage anyone flying from Gatwick to stay here.

Check in was very flexible as I was late so I just called and they talked me through self check in. Lovely owner. Room was tidy but quite dusty and very cold, no option to put heater on. Also note the bathroom is shared: I probably missed this while booking.

AVOID!! Owner flat out lied. Listing stated AC and when I messaged to say please can the AC be put on in our room she said yes it is warm we will cool it down for you. No AC at property. Also shared bathroom which listing never stated. Ended up leaving as the place was horrible and booking elsewhere and fighting to get it refunded. I would never stay here

Arrived at the property at 12:30 AM. There was no one to let us in. We called Expedia help line but they were not able to contact the property. One day earlier, we were told that someone would be there. We were lucky to find another hotel that was open. Please refund my money.

Charming!

Our stay went smoothly. The room was adorable and the shared bathroom was spacious and clean with a separate shower and bathtub option. There were places to eat and a grocery store within walking distance.

Possibly the worst experience with Hotel.com I have can in the last 15 years. I changed my train times to accommodate 10.00pm check in. But even at 9.00pm there was no one to help. A bizarre experience of being shown to a multiple habitation attic room by a young lady who spoke no English was later discounted by the owner as a fiction of my making, after I managed to reinterpret the message pinned on the front door and rouse her. The facilities were barely adequate, cold water tap didn’t work, window blind collapsed when I used it, though the bed was comfortable. I can not recommend this place at all.

The shower didnt work, the TV didnt work, the wifi didnt work, no hair dryer (it didnt matter as i couldnt shower). Bathroom was outside the room, past the front door communal area and hall (it may have said this on booking, i dont recall, not ideal walking past the front door in pj's at 2am though) Bed was comfy though, close to gatwick and lucky with on site parking as we managed to squeeze in a tiny spot that somehow didnt block anyone else in. We were only there for 10 hours , a little dissappinted as i couldnt shower before a long flight but i guess it served its purpose.

There are 2 dohs that live on the property. My sister is allergic to dogs. The dog wouldn't stop barking! We had to leave and get a hotel! There was dirty dishes in our room. One of the beds was sofa bed and it was bent in the middle. I have pictures and a video of the dog barking!

Arrived at a pitch black compound with no lighting, had to rely on my phone's flashlight. My son FELL DOWN in the darkness. Called the service number for help and was basically told 'other guests managed, so you should too'. Not only is this unsafe, it's unacceptable customer service. Very disappointed and would not recommend.

Don’t recommend!!!

Drunk owner came out to us after being told she had ‘went to bed ‘ before check in time smelling of booze . We was then shown to our room that was already full , i assume no bed changes was made …. Supposedly pet friendly ( look at the stairs ) . We found a screw on the floor and cupboards full with various bits and pieces . Wouldn’t ever recommend this place !!

I am writing this review to warn others about the unacceptable service I experienced regarding my recent booking. Due to a personal medical emergency (following recent surgery), I was unable to attend the booking with my partner as originally planned. I communicated professionally with the owner/management beforehand to explain that I would instead be arriving with a group of 8–10 colleagues for a scheduled branding and promotional project. Despite having a confirmed booking, I was informed mid-journey—while stuck in traffic—that the hotel would no longer accommodate us. When I questioned this, the situation escalated into verbal abuse from the management. I was falsely accused of having already visited the premises with a partner and causing a disturbance, despite the fact that I had not even arrived at the hotel and was still several hours away. When I requested security footage to prove that I had never been on the premises, the management blocked me instead of providing evidence. Furthermore, the abuse extended to my clients, who were told they needed "psycho help" by staff. Because of this behavior, my clients missed a professional brand opportunity, and I was forced to find and pay for alternative accommodation at the last minute after long drive. To make matters worse the mangemet are now refusing to give me a refund for a stay unilaterally cancelled and made impossible to attend. This entire experience has been unprofessional and been left very distressed

I am not sure if this means anything, but I will have to say anyway. I know they have a policy of checking in at 10:00 pm, but they do not take into consideration that people who travel by plane might have flight delays. So, I had a flight delay and I arrived at the hotel after 10:00 pm. There was no sign, no lights to see if anyone one could helped. I left with luggage in the middle of the night to find another hotel. First, I think that I should be reimbursed, and second, I think that it a bad practice for the hotel not to have an emergency mechanism in case of emergency. That experience was traumatic for me. And I will give very negative reviews

Dear Hotel Management I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with a recent experience I had following a hotel booking made at approximately 10pm. After booking, we took a taxi to the hotel, which took around 30 to 40 minutes. Upon arrival, the building was completely dark and the front door was locked. We knocked, and eventually a woman opened the door, but she seemed unaware of our reservation and refused to allow us into the room. She asked me to call someone for assistance, but no one answered the phone despite several attempts. As a result, we were left stranded outside late at night. Fortunately, there was another hotel just across the street, which kindly accommodated us. Otherwise, we would have had nowhere to stay. I attempted to contact customer support through the website, and although they did reach out to the hotel, the hotel refused to provide a refund. I am extremely disappointed by how this situation was handled. Not only were we denied access to a room we had paid for, but the refusal to refund the booking adds further frustration. Had there not been another hotel nearby, or had I not had the means to pay for an alternative, the situation could have been even worse. I kindly request that this matter be reviewed and that a full refund be issued as soon as possible. Sincerely,

Bizarre experience

A stay at the Hazelwick left us bemused and as if we’d spent a night in a parallel reality. I’m fine with quirky places but this was on another level. There were some good points- our room was more of a cottage with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. The location was good for Gatwick airport and we received a friendly welcome. However, when we arrived, the owner didn’t answer the door and another guest had been waiting there for over half an hour despite it being 40 minutes after check in. We eventually raised the owner on the phone and she’d been inside all along! We got the distinct impression she hadn’t been expecting us! We were then ushered into the garden while she rushed to make up a room for us. She never asked our names. We could’ve been anyone!! In the garden were two dogs which jumped up at us constantly having bolted down the road resulting in another guest having to run after them! My biggest concern was that the garden was full of dog muck (eughh) which the dogs were treading in and then putting their paws all over us. As we were shown our room 30 minutes later, the dogs came in too but worse still, the door had a dog flap so it was very difficult to keep them out. The room itself was ok, a bit shabby in places- think hippy vibe. One shower wasn’t working, but the other did. We left feeling that the owner is struggling a little with the running of the guesthouse and not quite in control. It’s in serious need of some refurbishment too.
