Staff were very friendly and helpful. Many spoke english. The meals were delicious. A glass of wine was overpriced and they did not have decafinated coffee until the last day we were there.

Location in isolation was amazing, easy access to ruins, staff was awesome, especially the servers like Oscar and Santos. Bartender named Israel was so friendly and personable. Great pools, bars, rooms were super comfortable and clean. Love all the tile work. Long drive to get to.

Nice modern property close to the ruins of Caluakmul. Unfortunately only about a quarter of the rooms face the jungle, the rest face either the parking lot or solar array. Even with a parking lot view we saw multiple birds, including parrots and two species of toucans.

The staff is very nice.
The food on the restaurant wasn't really good. I think is better to eat before to get to the hotel.
The room was clean and it was a great place to start Calakmul early.

Our stay at Munck Maya Calakmul was our second time at a Mundo Maya hotel during this trip — and once again, it impressed.
The hotel is beautifully designed with lots of thoughtful details and plenty of comfortable spots to relax. The pool at the top was nice, though a bit too warm, with limited shade and no open bar, which was a small disappointment.
The room was clean, spacious, quiet, and pleasantly cool. The price-quality ratio is excellent.
The food, however, really doesn’t match the hotel’s style — it’s mediocre and overpriced, and the service was below the standard you’d expect for such a design-focused hotel. If the dining experience matched the quality of the hotel and staff were more attentive, this place would be perfect.
Overall, a stylish and comfortable stay, but the restaurant experience brings it down.

This is a beautiful new property that is a welcome rest after exploring the Calakmul area. Gorgeous pools, attentive staff, and lovely architecture and design throughout. We very much enjoyed our stay, and came back a second time. Just be prepared for the long drive.

Everythin was great an luxerious, I fully recommend this hotel as a stop when planning to visit Calakmul ruins. The only slight negative was that the service was somewhat slow compared to EU or American standards but stil very nice and helpful.

New facility built with 2024. All employees, concierge, restaurant staff and housekeepers friendly. Calakmul is isolated and the archeological site is the only activity outside of the hotel but a must see. Three main pyramids that are climbable. Once on the top the view of the rainforest is impressive. We saw a family of spider monkeys and the howling monkeys. It was breath taking. Not a commercialized site with no vendors so you must take water with you.

It is a lovely, remote place in the jungle. We loved it. The restaurant was inconsistent. Had some excellent meals, and others just, so-so

It's a beautiful hotel with a great staff. The service in the restaurant was a little slow, but the food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the indigenous items on the menu. Lastly, they need to stock a better selection of wines in the restaurant.
I hope to return one day soon.

The price was much higher than I was quoted. The staff were uninformed as to why that might be.

Lovely corner of the Calakmul Biosphere
This hotel is about 7 months old, and they are on their way but not quite there yet. First, the rooms and hotel are beautiful. Rooms are spacious, tasteful, and have balconies looking out on the jungle. The pool area and common areas are similarly lovely. You are an hour and a half from the main highway, so completely at the mercy of the restaurant on site. The servers are by and large very friendly but they seem overwhelmed. Service takes a long time. The hotel should offer a cafe, maybe at the pool side bar, where guests can get quick, less complex snacks and sandwiches. Also, they ran out of fundamental ingredients like milk for the coffee and lime/ lemon for margaritas. We did some walking/ driving up the
Road to see wildlife. However, if you are interested in some of the archaeological sites that are lesser known, it might be better to limit your stay at Munro Maya and find a hotel in Xpujil. We thought we were doing that but the Hotels.com link shows the hotel in the wrong place.

Great location, once you get to the right place
Check the address! After going to Xpujil from the map in the listing on hotels.com, we found out we had to turn around and go 2 more hours into Calakmul biosphere (which requires an entry fee) to get to this hotel which is actually Hotel Tren Maya. I contacted hotels.com to update their map but just in case it hasn’t been, google Hotel Tren Maya Calakmul and it should send you to the right place. The hotel itself is going to be really nice, but currently it does not have everything ready. Only one pool is open. The first room we were given had a broken drain in the shower and we had to switch rooms two more times to get a good room. The staff attitude needs improvement. Slow service in restaurant even though each time there was only one other table of customers. Bed very comfortable. Balcony great. Being only 12 kilometers from the ruins is amazing. Lots of wildlife around.

Good if you must stay inside Calakmul reserve
Hotel is 2 hours drive away from location stated in Hotels.com, was a very nasty surprise.
Hotel is built nicely, grant ceiling. But I am shocked that 4 month after opening shower tips are already rusty. Toilet kept producing smell, that spreader into the room. These tiny details negatively affect perception of overall beautifully designed space.
Service is quite slow, seems like they are not yet set up well operationally. Bringing a bottle of water at the pool took over 15 mins. At the restaurant each role is separated, 1 sits you down, 2nd brings menu, 3rd takes order, 4h brings the order, 5th brings the bill. And you come to 6th person to pay by card. I was eating at not busy time, maybe that’s the reason. But actually I had to remind them of my existence

Hôtel idéalement situé pour visiter le site de Calakmul. L’hôtel est très beau, les chambres modernes et bien équipées.
Je regrette un peu l’absence de lit bébé et l’insonorisation de la chambre.
